SHILLONG, Sep 27: The Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of the GHADC on Saturday cautioned the government that their suspension of agitation is only temporary and they will not hesitate to hit the streets again if push comes to shove as far as their demand is concerned.
“We discussed with all the members and then decided that our agitation will be temporary suspension. We will resume anytime may be after two day or one week depending on the situation,” said NGEA president, Brithen M Sangma.
He added, “People have supported our cause from all sections of Garo Hills because it is just and fair”.
This move of the NGEA comes following the interim order of a division bench of Acting Chief Justice H.S. Thangkhiew and Justice B. Bhattacharjee directing the West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police to take steps to request the agitating employees not to cause any form of obstruction to the persons who are willing to work.
“It is expected that the respondent No.5, shall comply with this request to be made by the Superintendent of Police and not to disrupt the work of the GHADC, failing which this Court would be compelled in the public interest and interest of justice to pass further orders,” the court had said.
The court also directed the SP to alert the president of the Non-Gazetted Employees Association Brithen M Sangma about the pendency of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL).
