2 Bangladeshis arrested near Nepal border in Siliguri
SILIGURI, Sep 29: Two Bangladeshis were arrested for illegally entering India through the Panitanki border near Siliguri, close to the Nepal border on Monday.Security forces also picked up their Indian accomplice, identified as Debashis Chakraborty, for allegedly facilitating the illegal entry of such people in exchange for large sums of money.The two Bangladeshis – Mohammad Zaidul Islam and Susanta Chandra Das – were apprehended by SSB personnel at Panitanki in West Bengal on Sunday night while crossing over from the Nepal side.The duo, who are being questioned by security personnel, were planning to move to Delhi, he said. Tennager arrested in Delhi hit-and-run case; bike seized
NEW DELHI, Sep 29: A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly mowing down a pedestrian in a hit-and-run case at central Delhi’s Paharganj.The incident occurred on Sadar Thana Road on September 25, when accused Vishnu,hit a pedestrian while riding a motorcycle, he added.The injured was rushed to the Lady Hardinge Hospital in a serious condition No eyewitness was found at the spot or in the hospital, following which a case was registered. A team was formed and CCTV footage scanned. Secret inputs led police to an abandoned motorcycle at Nabi Karim, which was identified as the offending vehicle. (PTI)
Woman collapses, dies while dancing at garba event
KHARGONE (MP) , Sep 29: A 19-year-old newlywed woman collapsed and died while dancing with her husband at a ‘garba’ event in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district, police said on Monday.In a video of the incident, which went viral on social media, the woman can be seen dancing to a Bollywood song on a stage in front of a Durga idol with her husband. Moments later, she slumps to the floor even as onlookers initially laugh, assuming it was part of the performance.According to acquaintances, when the woman identified as Sonam did not move despite her husband’s efforts, she was rushed to a doctor who declared her dead.Sonam had tied the knot with Krishna Pal in May this year, a local said. India-Botswana talks to import 8 more cheetahs in final stages
BHOPAL, Sep 29: Talks between India and Botswana to import eight more cheetahs from the Southern African country are in the final stages, an official from the MP forest department said on Monday.“Talks are at the last stage. Now just the dates (for flying in cheetahs from Botswana) have to be finalised,” the official told PTI.“We can’t officially comment on the issue, as it involves the Centre and a foreign government. It is not in the purview of the state,” he added on condition of anonymity.On September 17, 2022, PM Modi released eight cheetahs brought from Namibia into a special enclosure at Kuno National Park (KNP) in Sheopur district. It marked the world’s first intercontinental relocation of a large wild carnivore species. (PTI)
