SHILLONG, Sep 30: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has sought to allay fears regarding the state’s preparedness for the upcoming National Games.
The government, he said, has recently conducted an asset analysis of the infrastructure being developed for the event. “I can say with full confidence that we will host the Games and there will be no issues,” Sangma assured.
Addressing concerns about accommodation during the Games, the Chief Minister said the Government has introduced the concept of a Games Village by integrating it with the Home Stay programme.
Under this initiative, entrepreneurs who can set up a minimum of 10-room home stays with the required facilities for the National Games will receive Government support. “For those days, the home stays will function as a Games Village, and later, they can continue to be used as tourist accommodations,” Sangma explained.
