TURA, Oct 6: The Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has filed a complaint with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma over what it described as illegal appointments made in clear violation of the state’s Job Reservation Policy (JRP).
ACHIK members stated that they had reviewed the appointments to the posts of Senior System Administrator and Assistant System Administrator under the Director of Accounts and Treasuries and found several violations, prompting them to seek the immediate cancellation of the appointments.
“The appointments were made directly by the Director of Accounts and Treasuries without the mandatory recommendation of the competent screening authority (MPSC/SCA), as required. This unilateral action undermines the entire state’s recruitment framework,” they alleged.
They added that the appointments were made without maintaining the JRP and without obtaining the required prior approval of the state cabinet minister, thereby violating several official circulars.
“The appointed individuals were reportedly selected from external sources without a transparent, competitive process. There are serious concerns regarding whether all appointees possess the necessary qualifications, which discriminates against other meritorious and eligible candidates from the Garo community who followed the due process,” the group added.
The ACHIK demanded the immediate cancellation of the appointments and called for the setting up of an independent inquiry to investigate the entire recruitment process, fix responsibility on the officials involved in the irregularities, and initiate appropriate disciplinary action.
“The department needs to immediately initiate a fresh, transparent recruitment process for these posts by strictly adhering to the JRP, providing due opportunity to candidates from the Garo society and other reserved categories. It should also adhere to all P&AR Department circulars and office memoranda, and go through the mandatory channels of the MPSC/SCA or other designated recruiting agencies,” ACHIK stated.
