‘Bagless Day’ observed at city school

SHILLONG, Oct 8: The Sub-Divisional School Education Office, Shillong, on Wednesday observed ‘Bagless Day’ on the theme ‘School Nutrition (Kitchen) Garden Day’ at Jyoti Sroat School, Shillong.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Rosetta M Kurbah spoke about the importance of maintaining a nutritious diet and leading a healthy lifestyle.
She also expressed her appreciation for celebrating the event at Jyoti Sroat School, a school dedicated to children with disabilities, and commended the students for showcasing their talents through music and songs.
On this occasion, students actively participated in setting up and maintaining School Nutrition (Kitchen) Gardens within their respective school premises.
The initiative aimed to provide students with hands-on, practical experience while fostering awareness about nutrition, sustainability and healthy eating habits.
Others present on the occasion included dignitaries from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, East Khasi Hills district, the District Horticulture Office, and officials from the Directorate of PM POSHAN, Meghalaya.
