JOWAI: Defying the status quo agreement between Assam and Meghalaya, Assam Police personnel have been allegedly trespassing into Mukroh village in West Jaintia Hills, a former Rangbah Shnong of the village informed.
“Assam Police personnel have been coming to the village regularly since April 4 and for unknown reasons they dug a hole about one square feet wide and 4 feet deep and buried some material inside,” the former Rangbah Shnong, who did not wish to be identified, said.

He informed that the villagers have been living in fear thinking that the Assam Police might have planted a bomb inside the hole.
“I along with some elders of the village went to the spot for inspection and we found a plank at the site with some unknown abbreviation written on it,” he said.
Out of fear, the village elders decided not to dig the hole and check the contents placed inside and, instead, made a request to the District police to take necessary action in this regard.
