London, Oct 10: Everton are reportedly keeping tabs on Kalvin Phillips ahead of the January transfer window, as the midfielder continues to find limited opportunities at Manchester City, sources told Football Insider.
The 29-year-old England international recently made his first appearance for City in nearly two years, but he is understood not to be part of Pep Guardiola’s long-term plans. Reports earlier this week indicated that Phillips is likely to depart the Etihad Stadium in January, with a loan move considered the most feasible option for interested clubs.
Everton, currently eighth in the Premier League after seven games, are assessing their midfield options and Phillips has emerged as a potential target. Manager David Moyes will look to bolster the squad during the winter window to maintain the team’s strong start to the season. The Toffees enjoyed a productive summer transfer window, with new signings Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall forming an effective attacking partnership. Strengthening the midfield is expected to be a priority in January, and Phillips’ experience in the Premier League makes him a strong candidate.Phillips, who moved from Leeds United to Manchester City, has struggled to make an impact in Manchester.
