
Man held for trying to induce people to convert to Christianity
BALLIA (UP), Oct 11: Police in UP arrested a man on Saturday for allegedly attempting to induce people to convert to Christianity by offering them money, jobs and housing, and inciting them to break idols of Hindu deities, officials said.Accused Alok Kumar (27) is a resident of Mau district, they added.According to police, a man named Harikeval got a complaint on Friday, alleging that Kumar is propagating the Christian faith in his village and offering money, jobs and houses to the villagers as inducements to convert.Kumar was reportedly “inciting them to break idols of Hindu deities”.A case was registered against Kumar. Youth dies after consuming poison to prove love for partner
KORBA, Oct 11: A 20-year-old man allegedly ended his life by consuming a poisonous substance to prove his love for his girlfriend at the behest of her family in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district, police said on Saturday.Krishna Kumar Pando, who had consumed poison on September 25, died at a hospital here on October 8.Pando was in a relationship with a girl.When her family learnt about it, they asked him to visit their home. When he went to her house, they allegedly asked him to consume poison if he truly loved her. He did so, and later told his family about the incident. They took him first to the PHC and then to the hospital where he died.A case has been registered, and police are probing the allegation by his relatives that the girl’s family forced or induced him to consume poison. One arrested for spying for Pakistan
ALWAR, Oct 11: Police have arrested a man from Alwar district of Rajasthan on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.The accused, Mangat Singh, was produced before a special court in Jaipur.Singh, had been in contact with a female Pakistani “handler” for the past two years and was allegedly passing sensitive information related to Indian military movements through social media.According to the investigation findings, Singh allegedly received over Rs 10,000 in multiple transactions from Pakistan in exchange for the information. His mobile phone contained records of sensitive exchanges, including coded messages hinting at troop movements before Operation Sindoor. Singh worked in a factory, was known locally as a ‘Siddh Purush’ and often participated in religious events. This allowed him to build rapport with defence personnel. (PTI)
