SHILLONG, Oct 12: The Departments of ENT and Anatomy at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) successfully concluded a two-day “ENT Hands-on Workshop (Cadaver) Basic to Advance FESS & Skull Base” on October 10th and 11th. The regional workshop, held at the institution’s Anatomy Dissection Hall and Virtual Dissection Hall, was designed to provide participants with both comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and complex skull base procedures.
A key feature of the workshop was supervised hands-on cadaveric dissections, giving attendees invaluable practical experience, further enhanced by expert demonstrations from leading faculty.
The core organising team included Dr Abhijeet Bhatia, Additional Professor of ENT, as organising chairman, and Prof (Dr) Amitav Sarma, Head of Anatomy, as organising co-chairman, reflecting the collaborative approach of the programme. Prof (Dr) Suvamoy Chakraborty, HOD ENT and Medical Superintendent, served as advisor, with Dr Zareen A Lynrah as organising secretary.
The event was graced by the Director in-charge and Dean in-charge, Prof. C. Daniala, who emphasised the significance of FESS and skull base surgeries in advancing ENT care. The workshop benefited from strong support from specialists across the ENT and Anatomy departments, ensuring a rich and high-quality learning environment.
External faculty included Prof. Rakesh Kumar, HOD ENT at AIIMS New Delhi, and Prof. Ripu Daman Arora from ENT AIIMS Raipur. The programme attracted participants from across the Northeast.
