SHILLONG, Oct 14: In a bid to spread awareness about the relief measures and benefits under GST 2.0 and address trade-related queries on GST and Customs, the Shillong CGST Commissionerate organized a Trade Interaction-cum-Outreach Program on at Jiva Resort, Sohra, East Khasi Hills, on Monday.
The event was chaired by Shailendra Kumar Sinha, Principal Chief Commissioner, CGST, Central Excise & Customs, Guwahati Zone, and attended by Partha Roy Chowdhury, Principal Commissioner, CGST, Guwahati, H Soikhanthang, Commissioner, CGST Shillong, and HM Anal, Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), NER, Shillong, along with senior officers and trade representatives.
Key discussions focused on the simplified tax structure, rate rationalisation, and compliance enhancement under GST 2.0, with special emphasis on the recent GST rate reductions effective from September 22, 2025, and its benefits to the industries and consumers.
The session was conducted in both English and Khasi to ensure wider public outreach and better understanding of the benefits under GST 2.0.
Participants from the hotel, homestay, restaurant, export, and allied sectors actively interacted with officials.
Queries on rate changes, Input Tax Credit (ITC), Customs clearance, and EDI connectivity were addressed satisfactorily by the departmental officers.
