HILLONG, Oct 14: The High Court of Meghalaya on Tuesday directed the KHADC to clearly indicate in its affidavit, the council’s stand on the Khasi Lineage Act and the PIL filed against certain sections of the Act.
The court made the observation while hearing a PIL questioning Sections 1, 2, 4-23 of the Khasi Social Custom of Lineage Act, 1997.
The counsel appearing on behalf of the KHADC, prayed for time to file a detailed affidavit, following which the court granted three weeks to the KHADC counsel to submit the affidavit.
