SHILLONG, Oct 17: The High Court of Meghalaya on Friday deferred the hearing of the case related to the relocation of 342 families from Them Iew Mawlong until next month, while directing the state government and the Harijan Panchayat Committee to explore possible ways of resolving the issue through dialogue.
The order was passed by a Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh on Friday, after being informed that both parties have initiated talks and that the dispute may be resolved amicably.
“Accordingly, the matter has been adjourned for hearing to November 17, 2025. We hope and trust that within this period, good sense will prevail and the parties will make all possible efforts to amicably resolve the dispute through mutual understanding,” the court stated.
