Kolkata, Oct 18: Senior pacer Mohammed Shami produced a devastating spell, claiming four wickets to steer Bengal to an emphatic eight-wicket win over Uttarakhand in their Ranji Trophy Group C match here on Saturday.
Resuming at 165 for two, Uttarakhand collapsed to 265 all out as Shami (4/38) tore through their middle and lower order.
Akash Deep and Ishan Porel chipped in with two wickets each. From 173 for two, the visitors lost eight wickets for 92 runs, with skipper Kunal Chandela (72) and Prashant Chopra (82) offering lone resistance.
Chasing 156, Bengal cruised home in 29.3 overs, led by captain Abhimanyu Easwaran’s unbeaten 71 and Sudip Gharami’s brisk 46. The hosts pocketed six points with the win.
Services win while Assam manage draw
In other matches, Services defeated Tripura by an innings and 20 runs in Delhi, with Arjun Sharma taking five wickets, while Gujarat and Assam settled for a draw in Ahmedabad. Gujarat took three points for their first-innings lead, Assam earned one. (PTI)
