3-year-old girl mauled to death by stray dogs
JALNA (Maharashtra), Oct 20: A three-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Maharashtra’s Jalna city in the wee hours of Monday, police said.The incident occurred in the Yashwant Nagar area when the child had wandered out of her house around 3.30 am, an official said.According to the police, the toddler, identified as Pari Goswami, was to accompany her mother and older sister to their native place in Bihar on Sunday, but chose to stay behind with her father.While her father was asleep, Pari reportedly stepped out of the house in search of her mother and wandered in the street, where a pack of stray dogs attacked her and dragged her away to a nearby open plot, the official said.A police constable who was on a morning walk noticed the dogs mauling the child and immediately chased them away, he said.The local police were alerted, and the severely injured girl was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead, the official said. Accused in constable murder shot dead during escape bid
HYDERABAD, Oct 20 : A 24-year-old man accused of stabbing to death a constable in Nizamabad district of Telangana was shot dead on Monday when police opened fire as he allegedly tried to escape.Citing preliminary information, the DGP office here said in a release that Shaik Riyaz snatched a pistol from the police and tried to fire at them while attempting to flee.The police opened fire, resulting in his death.The incident occurred at Nizamabad government hospital where the accused was taken for treatmentShaik Riyaz (24), who was earlier caught in connection with a vehicle theft case, had attacked constable, Pramod (in his mid 40s), with a knife on his chest when he was being taken on a two-wheeler to the police station on October 17 night.Pramod succumbed to injuries. Three killed as minor accident triggers clash
RAJKOT, Oct 20: Three persons were killed after two groups clashed following a minor road accident in Gujarat’s Rajkot city in the early hours of Monday, police said.The clash occurred in the Ambedkar Nagar area. After the accident, two groups attacked each other with knives, daggers, and sticks.Three people, including two brothers, died, while three others were injured.The deceased have been identified as Arun Barot and brothers Suresh and Vijay Parmar, and they all belonged to rival groups, he added.Police have started questioning residents of the area to track down those involved in the clash.
