Best of M’laya karate talent to compete at 31st state championship

Shillong, Oct 21: The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) is set to host the much-awaited 31st State Karate Championship 2025 at the JN Indoor Stadium, Shillong, commencing on October 23.
Over the course of three days, the championship promises to bring together the finest karate talent from across the state, highlighting Meghalaya’s growing prominence in martial arts.
The championship, held with the support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, will see athletes from multiple districts compete in both men’s and women’s divisions, vying for top honours in various weight categories and skill levels. The competition is expected to be a vibrant display of discipline, skill, and sportsmanship, reflecting the dedication and hard work of the state’s karatekas.
In the previous edition, the East Khasi Hills district emerged as the Overall Champions in both the men’s and women’s divisions, showcasing the district’s dominance and depth in karate.
The Eastern West Khasi Hills were the runners-up in the men’s category, while Ri-Bhoi secured the second position in the women’s division, underscoring the competitive spirit that pervades the championship.
Organizers are optimistic that the championship will not only provide a platform for emerging karate talent to shine but also foster a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among the participants. With high anticipation surrounding the event, spectators and martial arts enthusiasts alike are expected to witness a series of electrifying performances that highlight the skill, precision, and determination of Meghalaya’s karate community.
As the countdown to October 23 begins, all eyes will be on the JN Indoor Stadium, which will transform into the battleground for the state’s karate elite, promising action, excitement, and moments that aspiring athletes will cherish for years to come.
