Laban Sports Club Academy sweeps State TT C’ship with 7 gold medals

SHILLONG, Oct 21: The Laban Sports Club TT Academy delivered a stunning performance at the 42nd Meghalaya State Table Tennis Championship, which concluded today, clinching a remarkable haul of 18 medals, including 7 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze.
The academy’s young talents dominated the singles categories, confirming its status as a powerhouse of table tennis in the state.
Stars Emerge as Double Gold Winners
The standout performance came from two of the academy’s brightest prospects. Deobobrata Paul secured a brilliant double gold, topping the podium in both the Under 17 Boys Singles and the Under 19 Boys Singles categories. Similarly, Shriya Thapa proved to be unstoppable, winning gold in both the Under 13 Girls Singles and the Under 15 Girls Singles.Adding to the celebration, the academy also swept the tournament’s prestigious individual honors:
Shivansh Pariyar was named the Most Promising Player (Male).
Saachi Mizar was named the Most Promising Player (Female).
The youngest categories set the tone for the academy’s success.
Saachi Mizar and Shivansh Pariyar both struck gold in the Under 11 Girls and Boys Singles, respectively.
Mizar also went on to secure a silver in the Under 13 Girls Singles, while Pariyar claimed silver in the Under 13 Boys Singles, in addition to his Most Promising Player award. The gold medal count was rounded out by Dhruv Dey, who captured the Under 15 Boys Singles title.
He also added a bronze medal to the tally in the Under 17 Boys Singles.
In the higher age brackets, the academy continued its strong showing. Camelia Diengdoh secured a silver medal in the Women’s Singles, where Anwesha Choudhury also won a bronze.
In the Under 19 Boys Singles, Paban Kanta Kanwar took home the silver, contributing to a podium sweep for the academy’s athletes in that division.The achievement, which saw the Laban Sports Club TT Academy participate in just 10 categories, underscores the depth and quality of coaching at the institution.
