Sydney, Oct 25: India’s batting maestro Rohit Sharma added yet another glittering chapter to his illustrious career, notching up his 50th international century during India’s emphatic run chase against Australia in the third ODI at Sydney on Sunday.
The Indian skipper’s unbeaten 121 off 125 balls, laced with 13 fours and a six, guided India to a comfortable victory and placed him in elite company — only the third Indian, after Sachin Tendulkar (100) and Virat Kohli (82), to reach the milestone. Globally, he became the 10th batter ever to achieve 50 international hundreds.
The century was also Rohit’s 33rd in ODIs, and his ninth against Australia, equalling Tendulkar’s record for the most hundreds by an Indian against the Aussies in the format.
The “Hitman” further extended his dominance in Australian conditions, scoring his sixth century Down Under, surpassing Kohli’s tally of five by a visiting batter. (Agencies)
