NEW DELHI, Oct 26: Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Brussels on October 27-28 to advance India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, meeting EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic.
The visit aims to provide political impetus and strategic guidance as both sides work to conclude a comprehensive trade pact by December. Talks will focus on market access, non-tariff measures, regulatory cooperation, and areas needing convergence.
This follows the 14th round of negotiations and prior discussions by Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal with the European Commission. India-EU trade totaled USD 136.53 billion in 2024-25, with the EU as India’s largest goods trading partner.
The FTA covers 23 chapters, including trade in goods and services, investment, intellectual property, dispute settlement, geographical indications, and sustainable development, boosting competitiveness of Indian exports like garments, pharmaceuticals, and steel. (PTI)
