New Delhi, Oct 27: England opener Amy Jones exuded confidence in her team’s chances of reaching the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final, expressing optimism ahead of their semi-final clash against South Africa in Guwahati.
The four-time champions wrapped up their league campaign in commanding fashion with an eight-wicket win over New Zealand on Sunday and now turn their focus to a rematch against the Proteas — a side they defeated comprehensively earlier in the tournament. England had thrashed South Africa by 10 wickets in their opening game at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium and followed it up with another win at the same venue against Bangladesh.Speaking after being named Player of the Match for her unbeaten 86* against New Zealand in Vizag, Jones said England are comfortable with the conditions in Guwahati and that the pitch could once again play to their strengths.
