28th Meghalaya State Kickboxing Championship kicks off in city

Shillong, Oct 31, 2025: The 28th Meghalaya State Level Kickboxing Championship 2025 began with much excitement and energy at the Meghalaya School of Martial Arts (MSMA) Training Centre, Laitkor Kynton U Mon, on Thursday.
The two-day event, organised by the Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organization (MAKO), will continue till November 1 and features participants from across the state.
The opening ceremony saw an impressive turnout of athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters, all gathered to celebrate the spirit of martial arts and sportsmanship. Distinguished guests graced the occasion and encouraged the young kickboxers representing various districts of Meghalaya.
Addressing the gathering, MAKO officials expressed gratitude to the teams, referees, and volunteers for their dedication and contribution to the development of kickboxing in the state. They reaffirmed MAKO’s commitment to nurturing grassroots talent and creating pathways for Meghalaya’s athletes to shine at the national and international level.
Over the course of the championship, participants will compete across multiple categories and bouts, showcasing their skill, strength, and discipline. Medal winners from this event will earn the opportunity to represent Meghalaya at forthcoming national championships under the banner of the National Kickboxing Federation (NKF).As the competition got underway, the atmosphere at the MSMA Training Centre was charged with excitement and determination, marking yet another milestone in Meghalaya’s growing journey in martial arts.
