TURA, Nov 2: The NGCO has raised concern and condemnation after a Garo girl, in a video which has already gone viral, accused a non-tribal from Rajabala area of threatening to kill her and her family members.
According to the NGCO, the viral video was reportedly posted in the social media by one, Balsera Ch Marak, where she alleged Rajabala resident- Rofikul Islam of issuing death threats to her and her family members,
“In the video, it is alleged that Rofiqul Islam has issued threats to kill all members of Balsera Ch. Marak’s family and subjected her and the Garo community to continued harassment and psychological torture. Such actions are wholly unacceptable and stand in clear violation of fundamental human rights and dignity,” it stated, while condemning the act.
Warning that the organization would not remain silent in the face of such acts, it urged concerned authorities to take immediate and stringent action against Islam to ensure the safety, security, and justice for Marak, her family, and the wider Garo community. The organisation also demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged threats.
Meanwhile, Marak has reportedly also filed an FIR against Islam with the Officer in-charge of the Selsella Police Outpost. The FIR was filed on November 1.
