Arunachal sanctions Rs 20 lakh as ex-gratia to poll officer’s family

Itanagar: The East Siang district administration has granted Rupees twenty lakh as ex-gratia to the family of assistant teacher Mathew Dabi who died while on polling duty during the April 9 Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Nidhi Srivastava sanctioned the amount yesterday which would be handed over to Bater Lollen Dabi, wife of the deceased, official sources said here on Friday.
Mathew went missing from Siine village under Pangin assembly constituency on April 9 last where he was deputed as polling official.
However, police recovered his body from a deep gorge near Siine village on April 17, eight days after he went missing.
Conveying her condolence to the bereaved family, the DC expressed deep shock and grief and said that police investigation and magisterial enquiry were underway to ascertain the cause of death, the sources said. (PTI)
