Centre to help implement health scheme

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has assured Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma that the Centre would fully cooperate with the State in implementing the proposed universal health care scheme through ADB.

Dr Sangma, who called on Mukherjee on Tuesday night, later, said that the State would get all necessary help from the Centre in implementing this mega scheme.

The Finance Minister has also assured to expedite the sovereign financial proposal, the Chief Minister added.

“There is also a proposal for a similar mega scheme for universal education, for which the Union Govt will provide necessary help” Dr Sangma informed.

It may be mentioned that the State Government is planning to launch a health insurance scheme for those families whose annual income is below Rs 5 lakh.

The State Government will soon chalk out the details of the new health insurance scheme including the amount of premium to be paid by the beneficiaries.
