Cops unravel Ricin poison terror plot, arrests ‘doctor’
Ahmedabad, Nov 9: The Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad has busted a suspected terror syndicate by arresting a ‘doctor’ with a Chinese MBBS degree, who was allegedly preparing highly-lethal chemical poison, ‘Ricin’, and whose handler is associated with the Islamic State Khorasan Province, and two others. One of the accused, Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, and two other arrested accused, identified as Azad Suleman Sheikh and Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem, had conducted a recce of several sensitive locations in Lucknow, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, a senior ATS officer said on Sunday. “Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed is highly educated and radicalised, and had planned to collect funds and recruit persons as part of a conspiracy to carry out major terrorist activities”, Gujarat ATS DIG Sunil Joshi told reporters. The accused men have also disclosed that their handler sends the arms consignment via a drone across the Pakistan border, he said. Acting on a tip-off, an ATS team arrested Dr Saiyed, originally from Hyderabad, near Adalaj in Gandhinagar on November 7 with two Glock pistols, a Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges and four litres of castor oil, Joshi told reporters. Saiyed, who earned his MBBS degree in China, has been preparing a highly lethal poison named ‘Ricin’ to execute a major terrorist attack. (PTI)
Man murders wife in front of children after quarrel
Bokaro, Nov 9: A 35-year-old man killed his wife in front of their children using a hammer and a knife in Bokaro district of Jharkhand on Sunday, police said. The husband, identified as Rupesh Yadav, had a heated argument with his wife, Jhalo Devi (30) and murdered her using a hammer and slit her throat using a knife in the room of their house in front of their three children. “The incident took place at Naya Basti in Bermo block of Bokaro district at around 3 am. They had a tiff over some issues, which led to a heated argument, and later, Rupesh murdered his wife. Their three children – 7-yr-old daughter Riddhi Rani, 4-yr-old son Piyush, and a 1.5-yr-old daughter-were sleeping in the same room,” police said. (PTI)
J&K: CIK nabs nine during anti-terror raids
Srinagar, Nov 9: Nine people, including a woman, were detained on Sunday as Counter Intelligence Kashmir carried out raids across the Valley as part of its crackdown on online terror networks. Acting on credible intelligence about the online glorification of terrorism and the radicalisation of youth, a spokesperson said the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) teams targeted 10 specific locations in Srinagar, Kulgam, Baramulla, Shopian, and Pulwama. “In a sweeping crackdown on online terror networks, CIK launched coordinated raids across Kashmir Valley today, sending a decisive message against extremism and cyber abuse,” the spokesperson said. “This robust operation, conducted with support from local police, focused on individuals alleged to be misusing social media platforms to incite violence, spread anti-national propaganda, and foster communal hatred,” he said.
