Shillong, Nov 11: Mawsyiem registered a hard-fought 14-run victory over Sohtyngab in a competitive encounter that went down to the final overs.
Batting first, Mawsyiem posted 169 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to crucial knocks from Basant Chettri (39 off 30), Aibok Basaiamoit (35 off 33), and Pynsuk Nongsiej (27 off 20). Despite disciplined bowling from Gaios Thabah (2/29) and Prem (2/30), Sohtyngab were unable to contain the scoring rate.
In reply, Sohtyngab managed 155 for 4, falling short despite a valiant unbeaten 57 off 44 balls by Willborn and a fighting 32 from Gaios Thabah. For Mawsyiem, Malcom Syiemlieh was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/30, while Gyandeep Kachari chipped in with an early breakthrough.
The result ensured Mawsyiem continued their strong run in the tournament, holding their nerve in a contest that could have swung either way.
