Outfit terms killing ‘national tragedy’

TURA: The GNLA has termed the killing of four of its senior cadres by East Garo Hills Police a ‘national’ tragedy and warned that it would not go unheeded.

‘Political affairs secretary’ of GNLA, Bikdot Nikjang Marak was quick to react to the killing calling up The Shillong Times office to issue a statement.

“We had planned to remain neutral and silent until August 15 celebrations but they have now ignited our anger. The killing of our men was done at the behest of the MLAs. They now have a debt to pay,” Marak warned.
