SHILLONG: To mark the occasion of the canonization of Pope John Paul II, Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, released two books on the late pontiff.
The Legacy of St. John Paul II is a collection of commemorative essays on the life and works of the pope written by the students of the college and edited by Dr. Barnes Mawrie, principal of the College. The other book U Pope John Paul II Bakhuid, is a booklet in Khasi written by Br. Leeborki Dhar.
In a function held on Sunday, in the College campus, the books were released by the Health and Family welfare minister A L Hek.
The speakers at the function highlighted the contributions that John Paul II made to the Church and to the world during his 26 years of papacy. They lauded the humble efforts made by the college to perpetuate the memory of this great pope.
