Guwahati, Nov12: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today celebrated the completion of five impactful years of its flagship community service initiative –Royal Anna Seva — a noble outreach programme envisioned by Dr. A.K. Pansari, Chancellor of RGU, under the aegis of the Gyan Sagar Foundation.Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary, Assam was the Chief Guest on this special occasion today who also inaugurated a new phase of the Royal Anna Sewa journey. A street play titled “Message Beyond Words” was also performed by students to mark the occasion.
Conceived under the visionary leadership of Dr. Pansari, the initiative began as an effort to serve those in need with dignity and compassion providingfree nutritious meals. Formally inaugurated on 12 November 2020 by the then Chief minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Royal Anna Sewa has so far distributed more than 200,000 meals making a tangible contribution towards Sustainable development goal 2: zero hunger.
Launching the new chapter of the initiative, Dr. Ravi Kota announced that Royal Anna Sewa will now distribute 50,000 free meals annually, further amplifying its reach and impact. He appreciated the university’s enduring commitment to social responsibility and sustainable community welfare, commending its efforts to combine education with empathy and real-world impact.
Reflecting on the milestone, Dr. A.K. Pansarisaid:“Royal Anna Seva embodies our university’s core philosophy — education with a purpose, grounded in empathy and social responsibility. It is not just about feeding the hungry, but about nurturing humanity, inspiring our students and community to give back. As we complete five years, I express my heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer and supporter who has carried this mission forward with unwavering dedication.”
Over the past five years, Royal Anna Seva has grown from a modest act of kindness into a movement that touches lives daily. Through daily meal distributions across Guwahati, pandemic relief drives, and outreach activities for marginalized communities, the initiative becomes a symbol of RGU’s belief that true education extends beyond classrooms.In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger, Royal Anna Seva has been a significant step toward realizing a hunger-free and nutritionally secure India.
