SHILLONG, Nov 15: In a bid to provide the best medical care to patients in the Northeastern region, NEIGRIHMS on Saturday inaugurated its latest equipment—the Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) system.
According to a statement here, NEIGRIHMS has been offering ESWL services, a non-invasive technique for breaking kidney stones, since 2013, and with the installation of the new and advanced Dornier Delta III Pro version of the ESWL machine, patients will receive more effective treatment.
NEIGRIHMS Director Prof. Nalin Mehta, who inaugurated the equipment at the Department of Urology, said the equipment is the third such installation in India.
He added that the machine will not only provide state-of-the-art care for patients with kidney stones but will also serve as a training tool for doctors from other states of the Northeastern region, with the objective of capacity building in the region.
