Western Bypass work exceeds expectations with 45% progress

SHILLONG, Nov 22: The under-construction Western Bypass is making steady progress after overcoming several initial hiccups. Sources informed that Package I of the project was expected to achieve 30 per cent physical progress by November, but it has already reached 45 per cent. Similarly, Package II is progressing as per schedule, with no delays reported.
“The Package III work slowed slightly due to the monsoon, but the contractor has completed a significant portion of the structural work,” sources said.
NHIDCL officials also confirmed that there are no pending issues across the project and that work is progressing smoothly.
The 38.256-km Shillong Western Bypass is being executed in three packages. Package I, covering 12.80 km at a cost of Rs 620 crore, is being implemented by Anusha Projects Pvt. Ltd. and BKD Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. under a joint venture. Package II spans 11.99 km with a project cost of Rs 686 crore and is being undertaken by Narendra Sharma and TK Engineering Consortium Pvt. Ltd. under a joint venture. The third and final Package III, measuring 13.56 km, is being executed by BRN Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. at a cost of Rs 562 crore.
