Shillong, Nov 23: The former Sirdar of Umniuh-Tmar Elaka, Premiere Sing Khongbeh, has been re-elected this time as the Acting Sirdar of the Elaka during the election held at Umniuh recently.
In this contest, five elders participated as candidates. The election of the Acting Sirdar was conducted after the Sirdar, Nanglamlad Khongshah, resigned from his post on October 20 due to personal reasons, even though his term was supposed to end only in 2027.
Following this development, the KHADC directed that an Acting Sirdar be chosen for the Elaka in order to manage its administrative affairs until further orders are issued.
The dorbar (meeting) to elect the Acting Sirdar was conducted by the Secretary of the Dorbar Elaka Umñiuh-Tmar, as per the directions of the KHADC.
