Guwahati, Nov 24: Justice Mr. Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, unveiled the bust of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution at the Assam Royal Global University (RGU).
The event marked a significant tribute ahead of India’s Constitution Day on 26th November. The Chief Justice also planted a tree at the university campus and addressed the law students.
Following the unveiling of the bust, Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar addressed the students in a special interactive session, according to a RGU Press release.
Addressing the students, the Chief Justice reflected on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s unwavering dedication and lifelong struggle, and said, “You must believe in yourselves and reject pessimistic thoughts if you wish to achieve your goals. On 26th November, we honour Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution—the mother of all laws.”
He further urged the students to keep Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals alive in their academic and professional journeys, adding that whether in the classroom or the courtroom, they should never hesitate to ask questions. He urged students to draw inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s vision, intellect, and lifelong advocacy for equality, calling legal studies not just a profession but a powerful instrument of social transformation.
In this regard, RGU Chancellor Dr. AK Pansari stated, “RGU, with its vision of fostering global excellence, has been consistently honouring the legacies of India’s national luminaries by installing statues and busts across its campus. The unveiling of Dr. Ambedkar’s bust stands as an effort to inspire students with pride, patriotism, and a deeper appreciation for India’s rich intellectual and constitutional heritage.”
