SHILLONG: At a time when the MeECL is being criticized for the unprecedented load shedding in the city, the MeSEB Pensioners’ Association has come out in defense of the Corporation.
The pensioners’ body stated that the question of competency, good performance and expertise of engineers and other staff of the corporation does not arise during this time of crisis when the turbines are not spinning and the penstock is running dry due to the act of nature.
In a statement issued here on Friday, the general secretary of the Association, B S Mawlong, however, expressed concern over the present power crisis that has resulted in fierce resentment and public criticism.
Mawlong said that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma should take an initiative and devise ways and means to rein in the crisis and also adopt policies and strategies to avoid its recurrence in future.
The Association also urged the Chief Minister to put in place full time Director Finance, Director Corporate Affairs and Chairman-cum-CMD and do away with the part time arrangement of these top brass officers for better functioning of the corporation.
