Kohima: The NSCN (Khaplang) has agreed to pull back armed cadres from Zunheboto to their designated camps, according to Chairman of CFSB Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Eppen Jacob Kochekkan.

He expressed the hope that it would be done within a few days.

After the split in the NSCN(K), the first meeting of the Cease Fire Supervisory Board was held yesterday among representatives of the NSCN(Khaplang), the Central and Nagaland Governments.

Gen. Kochekkan was talking to the media after a closed-door meeting of the board with NSCN(K).

He said on his suggestion, the state government had agreed to form a committee with Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police at Zunheboto to oversee the pull back.

He described Tuesday’s meeting as cordial where some issues were solved while others needed the consent of the Union government.

Asked if the NSCN(K) had sought any new designated camp, Gen. Kochekkan said it had claimed that all designated camps allotted to the undivided NSCN(K) were theirs. He, however, said the issue needed further discussion and examination before any response was given.

On the vexed issue of extortion, Gen. Kochekkan hoped the factions would cooperate with the government to curb it. (UNI)
