Shillong, Nov 30: Twenty-seven karatekas from the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association are set to represent the state in the 4th All India Inter-Zonal Karate Championship 2025, to be held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on December 1 and 2. The contingent, led by coaches Donboklang Lyngdoh and Mingson Rymbai, features athletes who earned qualification through strong performances at the North East Zone level.
The Meghalaya squad includes competitors across various age groups and weight categories, ranging from sub-junior to senior levels. Among the notable representatives are Savio Bakynsai Majaw (13 years, -40kg), Paul Danny Kharmudai (Men’s Kumite -60kg & Individual Kata), Naomi Y Sylliang (12 years, -45kg), and Barisha Kharbani (Women’s Kumite -61kg). The team also features promising young talents such as Princey A Blah Pohti (-25kg), Thekho Keyao (-25kg), and Nathaniel Jasper Thongni (Cadet Kata).
The association expressed confidence in the squad, highlighting their preparation and determination ahead of the national event. General Secretary Ksan Kupar Warjri extended gratitude to the media for continued support and requested coverage of the team’s participation as they aim to make the state proud on the national stage.
