Bharat Scouts and Guides Council meet

Shillong, Dec 1: The 28th State Council Meeting of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides was held recently at the P. J. Bazeley Hall, State Headquarters, and was chaired by the Chief Secretary, Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed.
During the meeting, the chief secretary was formally inducted as the new president of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides through renewal of the scout promise and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, symbolizing a commitment to the core values of the movement.
Several pivotal agendas, focusing on resolutions to enhance the movement for the betterment of youth in the state, were discussed. The annual report 2024-25 and the State Strategic Plan 2025-28 were also released.
The chairperson expressed gratitude to the council members for their ongoing dedication and contributions, emphasising the importance of collective effort in achieving the movement’s goals. A notable aspect of the discussions was the urgency to engage more actively with pressing community issues such as drug de-addiction, environmental sustainability, and general cleanliness. The chairperson called upon members to champion initiatives that inspire small, tangible changes within the community, highlighting that such efforts, while modest, can yield significant societal impact
