SHILLONG, Dec 2: Chief Minister and NPP national president, Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday refrained from giving a direct answer as to whether former Cabinet minister and UDP MLA, Paul Lyngdoh would join the NPP or not, while suggesting that all will be revealed at a appropriate time.
“These are political aspects and it will come out only when time is appropriate,” he said in reaction to speculation about Lyngdoh’s switch to the NPP.
Pointing out that they are good friend and they do discuss politics, Sangma said that they have held discussions but jumping to a conclusion right now would be premature.
“It is not the appropriate time to discuss all these things. Let’s see how things unfold,” Sangma added.
On Sunday, NPP state working president Hamletson Dohling had expressed surprise over the circulation of claims that Lyngdoh was considering joining the NPP ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections, asserting that there is “no truth whatsoever” to the speculation.
“It looks like it is only the imagination of someone. The party is not aware of any such plan from Paul Lyngdoh,” Dohling said, adding that it would be too early for any political realignments, given that the 2028 elections are still years away.
