Visakhapatnam, Dec 6: Rohit Sharma etched his name deeper into Indian cricket’s legacy on Saturday, becoming only the fourth Indian to surpass 20,000 international runs. The milestone places him in an elite club alongside Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid — a quartet that now defines India’s batting heritage across eras. The Indian captain brought up the landmark during the third ODI against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, continuing a remarkable late-career resurgence that has seen him pile up consistent scores in white-ball cricket. Over the course of 505 international matches, Rohit has now accumulated 20,048 runs, decorated with 50 centuries and 111 half-centuries, numbers that underscore both his longevity and his flair.
A dominant force particularly in ODIs, Rohit’s record includes 11,516 runs in the format, highlighted by his world-record 264*. His contributions in T20Is and Tests further cement his status as one of India’s most complete modern-day batters. The landmark arrived on a night when India, having opted to bowl first, put themselves in a strong position in the series decider.
