Mizoram draft Lokaykta bill to be posted on state website

Aizawl:  Mizoram Law Minister Lalsawta on Sunday said the draft Lokayukta Bill will be posted in the state government’s official website for public deliberations before its submission to the state cabinet for final approval. Lalsawta told PTI that the Lokayukta drafting committee had entertained a number of suggestions from interested organisations and individuals and had made a plethora of changes from the original draft bill. “The final draft will be posted in the official website and seminars will be organised before being submitted to the Council of Ministers, to ensure transparency,” he said. The state government has sought financial assistance from the 14th Finance Commission for establishment of Lokayukta in Mizoram and the Commission was yet to make any recommendation, sources said. Nagaland NSF supports SSA teachers’ stir

Kohima:  The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has supported the cause of NSSATA agitation for non-payment of salaries and appealed to the Education Department to give time-bound assurance to the teachers and ask them to resume normal classes at the earliest. In a statement, NSF General Secretary Esther Rhakho and Education Secretary Bangdi Chawang reminded that being concerned with the academic career of thousands of students, NSF officials have met the Education Department officials and the SSA teachers’ representatives on many occasions urging them to press upon the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD) for release of the money at the earliest. However, till date nothing has been materialised and it was the students who were made to bear the brunt of this impasse. (UNI)

Nagaland NPF to set up Core Committee to choose CM candidate

Kohima: Amidst lobbing and support to one particular MLA in the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) legislators, to elect or select one of their MLA to replace present Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who has contested for the Lok Sabha seat of Nagaland, the legislators of the NPF has decided to constitute a ‘Core Committee’ to select one to replace Rio. According to NPF party sources today the NPF Central Office bearers yesterday had a meeting at the NPF Central Office at Kohima on the issue of a leader to replace Mr. Rio and endorsed the decision that the elected NPF legislators choose their one leader among themselves to replace Mr. Rio and decided to constitute a Core Committee, which would be authorized to choose the next leader in the larger interest of the party and such a decision would be final. The resolution was made during the emergency NPF Central Office bearers meeting yesterday reaffirmed to repose its confidence and faith in the leadership of party President Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. Sources also informed that the meeting congratulated the party workers of all ranks and files for successful performance at the recently concluded Lok Sabha election and expressed gratitude to the election machineries, the ECI and State Election Department for smooth conduct of the polls. The meeting also acknowledged the churches, civil societies and the people of the state for the high turn-out during the polling. (UNI)
