Rilbong-Baniun stretch to be completed by Dec: Tynsong

Shillong, Dec 8: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday announced that Package 1 of the Shillong–Dawki road project — the four-lane stretch from Rilbong to Baniun in Mylliem — will be fully completed by the end of December 2025. He said the executing agency has reaffirmed its commitment to the month-end deadline.
Tynsong, who recently inspected the entire alignment up to Dawki, expressed satisfaction with the overall progress.
He said Packages 2, 4 and 5 are targeted for completion by December 2026.
Once finished, the upgraded highway is expected to greatly improve connectivity and boost trade and tourism with Bangladesh.
