Shillong, Dec 8: Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma on Monday asserted that the construction of the new Meghalaya Legislative Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong Township is progressing steadily and remains on schedule for completion by June 2026.
Addressing reporters after presiding over the second monthly review meeting on the project, Sangma highlighted notable advancements since the previous session in November.
“The meeting was highly productive. Regular reviews have ensured consistent progress, with all updates meticulously documented,” he said.
The Speaker emphasised that the timeline for the main hall has not shifted, and the project team is committed to meeting all deadlines.
“Upon completion of the building, I can confidently assure that Assembly sessions will convene in the new premises,” Sangma added.
