SHILLONG, Dec 9: Leaders of the Mawsaw C&RD Block Demand Committee, accompanied by Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and prominent elders representing around 118 villages, called on Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday to push for the creation of Mawsaw C&RD Block.
The delegation said the present Mawkyrwat has become too vast and difficult to manage in its existing structure.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, committee chairman, Commander Shangpliang, along with the MLA, said that the demand for a new block reflects the collective aspiration of people from all 118 villages.
They added that the government has already acknowledged the issue.
Although the state government has not made any commitment yet, the leaders described the discussion with the chief minister as positive and encouraging.
