Melbourne, Dec 11: Australia has named its 15-member squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup scheduled for early next year, with two Indian-origin youngsters — Aryan Sharma and John James — earning spots in the travelling party.
The squad, headed by U-19 men’s head coach Tim Nielsen and supported by assistants Luke Butterworth and Travis Dean, will compete in Group A alongside Ireland, Japan and Sri Lanka. The team is set to reach Namibia in early January, with warm-up fixtures slated from January 9 to 14.
Announcing the squad, Nielsen said the selectors had focused on assembling a balanced group capable of adapting to tournament demands. He noted that several players had stood out in the U-19 series against India earlier this year, as well as in the recent National U-19 Championship in Perth. (Agencies)
