Top UAE commander meets Army Chief
NEW DELHI, Dec 15: Commander of the Presidential Guard of the UAE, Major General Ali Saif Humaid Alkaabi, called on Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and held discussions on enhancing defence cooperation and deepening military-to-military engagement, officials said on Monday.The visiting United Arab Emirates leader also engaged in high-level discussions with senior military leaders. He was briefed on Operation Sindoor and India’s security perspective in the region, they said.The Indian Army also shared some photos of his visit in a post on X.Major General Alkaabi was accorded a Guard of Honour at the lawns of the South Block during his visit. He also paid tribute to soldiers at the National War Memorial in Delhi. (PTI)
Bodies of man, three daughters found hanging
MUZAFFARPUR,Dec 15: The bodies of a man and his three daughters were found hanging in their house in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, police said on Monday.The deceased have been identified as Amarnath Ram and his three daughters, Radha Kumari, Radhika and Shivani. According to locals, the girls were in the age group of 9-12 years.Villagers told police that Amarnath Ram allegedly hanged his three daughters before taking the extreme step himself. However, two sons of Ram managed to protect themselves, and they informed the villagers about the incident.Locals termed the incident a case of mass suicide and also informed police that Ram was under extreme financial stress and was not able to handle family affairs properly after the death of his wife.(PTI)
Sanjay Saraogi appointed BJP’s new Bihar unit president
PATNA, Dec 15: The BJP on Monday appointed Sanjay Saraogi as the party’s Bihar unit president.Saraogi, a former cabinet minister in the Bihar government, is an MLA from Dharbhanga constituency. He succeeds Dilip Jaiswal.“Bharatiya Janata Party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Sanjay Saraogi as the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar with immediate effect,” BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said in a notification.The NDA had swept the recent Bihar assembly polls with the BJP emerging as the single largest party. Teenager killed in knife attack by classmate
PUNE, Dec 15: A 16-year-old boy was killed after a classmate allegedly attacked him with a knife inside a classroom at a coaching centre in Pune district on Monday, police said.The attack was apparently the fallout of a previous dispute between the two boys, who were studying in Class 10, they said.The incident took place at a private coaching centre in Rajgurunagar, according to the police.“A boy, who was carrying a knife, suddenly attacked a classmate inside a classroom at the coaching centre on Monday morning. The injured boy was rushed to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. A process is on to detain the accused boy,” an official said. A primary investigation suggested there was some dispute between the two boys, he said. (PTI)
