Ban on heavy vehicles along 2 major routes in Mawkynrew

SHILLONG, Dec 16: Heavy vehicles weighing more than nine metric tonnes (9 MT) have been prohibited from plying on two major routes: Thangsning-Thynroit-Mawpyrshong Road and Mawkynrew-Mynsang-Jatah Road.
The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills said in an order issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which was implemented following reports of overloaded vehicles operating within the Mawkynrew C&RD Block.
The administration stated that the continued presence of these vehicles is causing severe and progressive damage to PWD and village road infrastructure.
