New Delhi: The minority cell of the AICC raised concern on Wednesday over the communal tension in the Bodo areas of Assam but asserted that with several steps taken by the party and Government, the situation is limping back to normalcy.

The Co-ordinator of the Minority cell of All India Congress Committee, Sayeedullah Nongrum, who rushed to the affected areas, said that normalcy is returning to the areas but it will take some time for the affected people to go back to their homes in the villages.

Nongrum, who is also Chief Political Advisor to the Meghalya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma, met Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and other top leaders of the party during his whirlwind visit.

He also held several meetings with the top government officials in the area besides meeting victims in camps.

The firm administrative measures, following the attacks in the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) areas, have been able to contain further escalation of violence.

There has been a considerable improvement in the law and order situation of the two violence-hit districts of Baksa and Kokrajhar, Nongrum said.

Nongrum added that efforts are on to trace 15 missing peopel with the help of the Central police forces and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

He demanded more aid for the victims and additional steps so that the affected persons and their families can go back to their homes with confidence.
