HC directs govt to file progress report on city road repairs

SHILLONG, Dec 17: The High Court of Meghalaya has directed the state government to file a progress report on complaints regarding the poor and dilapidated condition of roads in Nongrimmaw and Laitumkhrah.
The petitioner had complained about the poor and deteriorated condition of roads in Nongrimmaw and Laitumkhrah, Shillong, and had disclosed the condition of roads in neighbouring localities, which are claimed to be well maintained.
Meanwhile, Counsel for the State submitted that the government would immediately look into the matter and take prompt steps to repair the roads in the area to make them motorable.
The State respondents have been directed to file a report on the progress made in this regard by the next adjourned date.
