Major reshuffle in Police dept

Shillong, Dec 19: The Meghalaya government on Thursday effected a major reshuffle in the state police, involving promotions and transfers of several IPS and MPS officers across various ranks, with effect from January 1, 2026.
According to an official notification, two IPS officers have been promoted to officiate as Inspector General of Police (IGP) in the Super Time Scale (Level 14).
Davis N. Rangsa Marak, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range), Shillong, has been posted as Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Shillong, against an existing vacancy. Aditya Goenka, Deputy Inspector General of Police, CID, Shillong, has been posted as Inspector General of Police, CID, Shillong.
Four IPS officers have been promoted to officiate as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in the Super Time Scale (Level 13A). Vivekanand Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ri-Bhoi district, has been posted as DIG (Eastern Range), Shillong, while Sylvester Nongtnger, Senior Superintendent of Police, TAP, Shillong, has been posted as DIG (Security), Shillong, against an existing vacancy.
Rituraj Ravi, Commandant, 6th MLP Battalion, Umran, has been promoted to officiate in the Selection Grade (Level 13) and transferred as Senior Superintendent of Police, TAP, Shillong, replacing Sylvester Nongtnger. In the Junior Administrative Grade (Level 12), Giri Prasad M, Superintendent of Police, ANTF, Shillong, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Ri-Bhoi district. Nangkiew K. Syiem will continue as Superintendent of Police (R/PR), Shillong, while Goldenbert D. Kharmawphlang will continue as Superintendent of Police, ATS, Shillong.
Several officers have also been promoted to officiate in the Senior Time Scale (Level 11) with corresponding transfers and postings. Among them, Saurav Kumar Saini, Assistant Commandant, 2nd MLP Battalion, Goeragre, has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills district, Shillong. Lovish Garg, SDPO, Raksamgre, and Ashu Pant, SDPO, Dadenggre, have been posted as Deputy Commandants at the 5th MLP Battalion, Samanda.
Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, Superintendent of Police, Cyber, Shillong, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, ANTF, Shillong. Naman Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ri-Bhoi district, Nongpoh, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, VIS, Shillong, while Dewansh Pandey, Additional Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills district, has been posted as Superintendent of Police (City), Shillong.
Other notable transfers include Bikram D. Marak, Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills district, who has been posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police (E), Shillong, and Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, Superintendent of Police (City), Shillong, who has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills district.
A number of officers have also been shifted across specialised wings including Cyber, EOW, Traffic, AID, CM Security, CID and MLP Battalions, as part of the comprehensive reshuffle aimed at strengthening police administration and operational efficiency across the state.
The reshuffle reflects one of the most extensive reorganisations of the Meghalaya Police in recent times, impacting key districts and specialised units statewide.
