BSF personnel abducted by Bangladeshi cattle smugglers

KOLKATA, Dec 22: A BSF personnel, posted in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district, was allegedly abducted by Bangladeshi cattle smugglers as he inadvertently crossed the border and entered the neighbouring country while chasing them on Monday.The incident happened in the Mekhliganj area of the district on Sunday morning, and the personnel returned to India in the evening after BSF took up the matter with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).Ved Prakash of the 174th battalion was abducted by Bangladeshi cattle smugglers as he inadvertently crossed the border while chasing them amid dense fog.“Following the incident, the matter was taken up with the BGB,” aBSF official said.“After meetings between BSF and BGB officers, Prakash returned to his camp unharmed in the evening,” he said. Jewellery shop looted at gunpoint by masked robbers

THANE, Dec 22: A jewellery shop was looted by three masked robbers at gunpoint in Seawoods area of Navi Mumbai on Monday morning, a police official said.They looted 20 ‘tolas’ of gold after threatening staff of the shop with a revolver, police said.“They did not not fire at anyone. A case was registered under BNS. We have pressed a dog squad into service to assist in tracking the suspects. CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas is being examined,” the police said. Builder’s death: CBI arrests son and daughter of former MP

NEW DELHI, Dec 22: The CBI on Monday arrested the son and daughter of former MP DK Audikesavulu–DA Srinivas and DA Kalpaja–in connection with the mysterious death of K Raghunath, a noted realtor with close ties with the former MP, officials said.It is alleged that after the death of former TDP MP from Chittoor in 2013, Raghunath and the MP’s children had a dispute over some properties, with the former claiming to be the owner of those assets, they said.In 2019, Raghunath was found dead in mysterious circumstances, following which the Karnataka HC had ordered a CBI probe, which was upheld by the Supreme Court.The CBI has arrested them in connection with cases “relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery of valuable security, forgery of government stamps and seals as well as destruction of evidences and creation of false evidences,” the agency spokesperson said in a statement.
