Shillong, Dec 26: Young yogasana talents from Meghalaya are gearing up to showcase their skills at two major national-level events in the coming days.
U-14 sub-junior athletes from the Meghalaya Yogasana Sports Association’s EKH and WGH units will travel to Sangamner, Maharashtra, to compete in the National Level Yogasana Sports Championship 2025-26 from December 29, 2025, to January 3, 2026. The state has high hopes for its young participants to secure medals at the prestigious event.Meanwhile, a 10-member Meghalaya team, including a coach-cum-manager, is heading to Andhra Pradesh for the 44th National Yogasana Championships, organised by the Indian Yoga Federation.
The championships will be held from December 27 to 29, 2025, at the Viswajanani Parishat Trust in Bapatla district.
These events offer a platform for the state’s budding yogasana athletes to test their skills against the best in the country and bring accolades to Meghalaya. These national-level championships not only provide a stage for Meghalaya’s young yogasana athletes to demonstrate their dedication, discipline, and talent, but also serve as an important stepping stone in their sporting journeys. Competing against some of the finest participants from across India, the athletes will gain invaluable experience, exposure, and confidence, which could shape their future in the sport. The support from coaches, mentors, and the Meghalaya Yogasana Sports Association underscores the state’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and promoting yoga as both a competitive discipline and a means of holistic development.
